broiler mechanism detail

I am trying to fix the lever that raises the broiler. It has a long rod that has somehow detached from the gear at the front left side. I cannot seem to see exactly how it was originally attached. Are ther any pics of the details of this mechanism?

There was a screw that went through a hole in
the bar and screwed into the gear. As the
gear was turned the rod was extended and retracted
to raise and lower the broiler and griddle.
To be able to see and fix this screw if that is
what it is the top will have to be removed.
Then when the top is turned upside down the broiler
Pan can be removed from the top. Then the whole
mechanism can be removed from the side of the broiler box. It may be possible to fix in place
but is will be a "booger" {technical term for
pain in the aXX}.
If you have not bought a service manual from
Todd or Sam now would be a good time to do so.

Yes the manual contains a pretty detailed illustration of the broiler and the Griddle Lift mechanism.

First thing I'd do is take off the left side panel, which exposes more of the mechanism. What you will see depends on what model broiler you've got, (some have the Griddle Lift spring running along the left exterior of the broiler box. Others have the spring running along the left bottom of the stove, attached to the broiler lift mechanism by a long lever).

You might find a broken spring, or whatever else your problem might be.

I can't figure out the application of the two different mechanisms. I've seen both styles used on model C's. It's my guess that the "long lever, bottom spring" version is an earlier design.
